Alpinisteig The Alpinisteig is one of the most impressive historic via ferratas in the Sesto Dolomites. It was built during the First World War by Italian Alpine troops and leads through a stunning high-mountain landscape with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. Although the via ferrata is technically fairly straightforward, it should not be underestimated due to its length and the possibility of snowfields – particularly at the start of the season. Accompanied by an experienced mountain guide, you’ll enjoy a varied tour that combines history, nature and alpine adventure. Guests staying overnight at the Zsigmondy Hut can also start the tour directly from there. Information Price: €175.00 per person (minimum of 3 participants) Included: Mountain guide and equipment hire Dates: Every Thursday and daily on request Meeting point & start time The meeting point and start time will be agreed individually with the mountain guide, depending on the weather, season and accommodation. Guests staying at the Zsigmondy Hut can be collected directly from there. The tour is expected to run until the end of October. As it is subject to weather and seasonal conditions, we recommend confirming your preferred date in advance directly with the Alpine School.

We start with the public bus to Sexten/Sesto and go with the cable car to the Helm/Monte Elmo (2.050 m). Here the hike begins via the Hüttensteig path nr. 20 to the Helmhaus and to the Rif. Sillianer Hütte hut. Since we will spend most of our time up on the beautiful border ridge and want to enjoy the mountain panorama flexibly, we recommend that all participants bring enough provisions, such as their own packed lunch. This way, we are independent of time and can take our breaks at the most beautiful viewpoints. We will make a short stop at the Sillianer Hütte for a cozy drink break. With a 360° view between the Italian-Austrian border, we learn a lot about the exciting history of this area. Descent via hiking trail nr. 4a and the Rif. Hahnspielhütte/Gallo Cedrone hut to the Helm/Monte Elmo mountain station, where we then take the cable car back down to the valley and return to the starting point by public bus. difficulty: medium start: 08.15 am at the Tourist Office return: 04.00 pm approx. walking time: 4-5 hours approx. equipment: complete mountain equipment, hiking boots, hiking clothes, spare shirt, sun protection, hiking poles, water, food, rain protection The cable car is not included: Ascent & descent: adults: € 36,00 / U18: € 24,00 / U8: free of charge Don't forget your SÜDTIROL GUEST PASS for the bus.
